Does a Co-Signer's credit affect my credit on an auto loan?

I'm 18 and wanting to get an auto loan. When I sign into it w/ a co-signer (my mom) she has fair credit. I'm wondering if her credit will show up/stay on my credit report? Or does my credit just stay clean and just build up as long as make payments on time. Pretty much will her co-signing affect me at all besides lowering my interest rate? Thanks

Does a Co-Signer's credit affect my credit on an auto loan?
Auto finance is what I do for a living and the answer is no. Your Mothers credit will not show on your credit file.

The only thing that will show up is the joint loan you will have for your vehicle.

As long as your payments are made on time every month, this loan will increase your score as well as your Mom's.

Be sure to thank her.

Reply:Not really. As long as you pay the loan it helps her credit out greatly. If you do not pay then you more so then her will take a very big hit.
Reply:Her credit will not show on your report, this will be the beginning of your credit providing you haven't begun it already. You will build your credit by repaying the loan on time and you will continue to build your mother's as well. If you fail to pay, however, it will seriously hurt your credit score as well as your mother's. As a co-signer you and your mother are both responsible for repaying the debt, so if you can't pay they will go after you mother.
