What is the best way to go about getting an individual auto loan?
In my experience with getting auto loans, I have always tried to get pre-approved through my bank/credit union. My credit wasn't too bad so they would approve me. (I did have to have the amount, year, and model of vehicle that I was planning on purchasing). When I went to the dealerships I didn't have to listen to their so called professional financing advice and didn't have to negotiate too much because I did my research and knew what I wanted to spend. So when they started talking their "finance" talk I had let them know I had prearranged/pre-approved all the financing on my own. They actually went to verify that I had done this and so tried to beat the deal I got through my credit union. They succeeded on getting a tad lower interest rate and I made sure to read all the fine print and went with it. All I had to do was let my credit union know that I went through other financial means and had no problem because it was just a "pre-approval". So I got a decent financing rate and was happy with it! : )
