Can someone take out an auto loan under my name before I was 18?

I called credit report company asking why they could not give me my credit report and they needed verification. They asked me what bank company did I used to take out an auto loan in 2004? I wasn't even 18 i was 14 at the time can someone stole my identity and took out an auto loan under my name?

Can someone take out an auto loan under my name before I was 18?
Yes it is called identity theft. Call a lawyer specializing in this type of legal matter.
Reply:It may not be identity theft. It may just be a mistake in posting a report to the wrong file. If you were 14 four years ago, then you just turned 18. If you just turned 18, you don't have a file because you don't have any credit history and they were looking in the file of someone with a similar name.
Reply:it could have been a security question but i would think they would have explained things to you at the credit reporting company because they obviously should know that you were 14. you can do a couple of things either call one of the major bureaus and ask them what to do or go to freeannualreport.com this is a legitimate site. its something like that you get one free a month from all three reporting agencies. they will asking verification questions and you should be able to get through that way. good luck. it happens all the time, lots of people take out loans, turn on phones, cable, etc with their childrens credit. i have seen it happen two many times. not saying this is what happened to you but i am saying its so easy to accomplish using an underaged persons identity.
Reply:It could be a random question for security. In this case the answer would be that you didn't have a car loan. But it could be ID theft or an error on your file too.

You may have to send a written request for a copy of your credit report. You will need to send copies of your SS card, driver's license, and a utility bill with your address.
